Plumas County, California - Gold Past Producer

Jackson Ridge is a 20 acre placer mining claim situated on the Jackson Creek, a gold-producing river found directly under Mt. Jackson! Five miles form the famous Plumas-Eureka mine, the Jackson Creek shares a rich history in gold rich territory! Prospecting for gold in the Jackson Creek is easy and can be done with just a pan and a shovel.

Placed right before the creek begins to fall off the mountain means steep terrain. Claiming down the mountain much lower, and it becomes treacherous - even costly - to pan in the river, making this claim is the last chance to get any gold barreling down the Jackson Creek before it disappears into the Feather River for good.

Prospecting for Gold on Jackson Ridge:

A fairly steep descent leading down to the river front is the only barrier of entry to this claim. Once on the river, plenty of natural foliage and vegetation help keep the sun off your head and back for a leisurely time at the river. Boulders and rocks come tumbling off the mountains and into the creek daily, and get worn into the fine sands and gravels found underneath the river waters. Surface quartz can be found in the river and nearby, a good sign of fresh, igneous mountain ores holding the precious minerals you seek.

Prospecting for gold is easy, and can be done with just a pan and a shovel. Bringing some classifiers and other equipment along to help make the finding easier is recommended, but be mindful not to bring anything that can't be easily brought down (or back up!) the hill.

Well-maintained dirt loads lead up to the claim, with SR-70 allowing easy access from either the California or Nevada side. Being actively maintained by the Forest Service, some picnic tables and some camping spots can be found nearby. Lastly, if you're worried about a hot meal and a warm shower, good eating and fine accommodations can be found five mile South at the touristy town of Graeagle, or 15 miles NW to Quincy!
