Photographs of Claim
Below you'll see photographs of Crystal Peaks 40 acre placer / gemstone claim. Although this area has been explored for years by Rockhounds, there are still gemstone quality specimens right on the surface! My first 15 minutes on the claim and I found Opalized/Petrified wood, smokey quartz and brown obsidian!
Bring your rake, shovel, and classifier, because gemstone hunters and rockhounds have barely even scratched the surface!

How to Rockhound CRYSTAL PEAKS
You can go rockhounding on this claim mostly year round! Below is a video of a couple rockhounds hunting for quartz in the Northern CA mountains. The Crystal Peaks gemstone claims have quartz like this, plus a half dozen other semi-precious stones with a big change of finding specimen quality double terminated quartz!
- Good dirt road access drives you right to the claim boundaries
- Bring a pick, shovel, classifier and get to digging!
- A spray bottle of water really shines up specimens in the field
- Scratch the surface! Lots of rockhounds just walk the surface looking for rocks, dig a couple inches, or a couple feet to unearth gemstones other prospects miss!
Within my first 15 minutes on the claim I found a huge chunk of opalized wood. A few minutes later, pieces of Agate, smokey black quartz and jasper! There are gemstones riddled about still on the surface. I suggest doin' a bit of digging and bringing your friends and family to hunt down semi-precious gemstones and rare finds.
