Two Small Gold Claims for Sale in a BIG Mining District!

In the heart of Arizona's Turkey Creek Mining District lie the Marigold #1 & the Bumblebee Gold #2; 20-acre placer and 20.66 acre lode claims!  These claims are the envy of local miners: In an area where patented and unpatented claims stretch for miles chasing the rich, feet-thick veins found across the Turkey Creek Mining District, staking new unpatented mining claims in this area is almost impossible - and getting your hands on one in this area is a rare opportunity!

With its history starting in the 1870s, the Turkey Creek Mining District has seen decades of work from nearly a hundred mines and thousands of prospectors, stopping only from governmental pressures due to the Second World War. With the labor shortage that followed the war, the district was mostly forgotten and abandoned... but all of its riches still remain half-mined!

This means the Marigold #1 & Bumblebee Gold #2 are surrounded by dozens of past producing mines. Chasing large veins, some reportedly stretching as far as 3/4ths of a mile before fracturing, mines such as the War Eagle, the Gold Note, the Roach, the La Plata Grande, and the aptly named Trinity Mine, just to name a few, all mined for the Treasured Trinity of gold, silver, and copper. With nearby mines taking in profits as high as $60,000 during their 1900s hay-day (about $1 million today), the area gave plenty of gold to everyone that could plant a stake in it!

    The Fault Channel

To make matters better, the Treasured Trinity seems to be easy to find within the Turkey Creek District. Neighboring mines in the area have found valuable ore outcroppings visibly close to the surface, owing to the incredible natural geology of this section of the Turkey Creek Mining District: as the meeting place between intrusive plutonic bodies (granodiorite, gabbro-diorite, quartz-monzonite) and meta-volcanic and meta-sedimentary bodies (e.g. migmatite), well-defined, existing fractures and foliations within these host rock bodies have allowed an incredible amount of mineralization through both metamorphic and metasomatic activity - of which, the Marigold & Bumblebee both find themselves in the "fault channel" of!

Collecting the minerals using dozer cuts close to the surface or sinking a deep shaft to chase the veins have allowed these neighboring mines to taste the gold underneath the dusty surface of the Bradshaw Mountains. The same techniques continue to apply for mines in the area.

Outside of mining, the Marigold and Bumblebee claims hold a unique secret. Prospectors in the area were amazed when they happened upon some old historical relics. After having spotted what appeared to be a tombstone inscribed with the date 1802 on it, they later stumbled a large stone with petroglyphs upon it! Impressed, they snapped this photo:

The area speaks for itself. Like the mining boomtown of Jerome, dozens of properties dot the hills leading up to the claims within the Potato Patch. Once patented mining claims, the gold and silver mined from below their foundations (and may still be!) purchased the very land and homes that stands on it today. While these smaller mines have now become the homesteads for their families, other mines are still active in the area, such as the Davis Dunkirk mine - a mine that took in $200,000 in its 1920s hayday (merely ~$3,250,000 today)

Access is not an issue with all the homesteads in the area, as there are well-maintained dirt roads that lead up to Potato Patch and the surrounding hillsides. Smaller dirt roads, of various maintenance quality and width, lead directly to both claims. A good 4x4 vehicle is recommended, although lesser off-road-capable vehicles can likely manage getting up to the homesteads, leaving a 1/2-mile walk to the claims on trails.

The mining boom town of Jerome -- not much unlike the homesteads surrounding the Marigold!

Here are the features of the "Marigold #1 & Bumblebee Gold #2" claims at a glance:
    • Where Schist and Granite Meet - Yavapai schist and Bradshaw Mountain granite have collided here in the Turkey Creek Mining District, and from the giant faults between the two, miles and miles of the Treasured Trinity can be found underfoot!
    • Home to the Treasured Trinity - Famed for holding large amounts of the Treasured Trinity - gold, silver, and copper - miners from the 1870s onward have flocked to the Bradshaw Mountains to take a swing at grabbing some of the riches for themselves!
    • Jealously-Guarded Ground - Almost the entirety of the Potato Patch Valley has been patented and homesteaded, and in areas that surround the Golden Turkey, Silver Pheasant, and other rich, historical mines, the story is more of the same. That which wasn't patented in time has been fiercely hoarded for decades as unpatented ground. Now, new entries on good ground are nearly impossible - making these claims a rare, chance opportunity!
    • Historical Gold Territory - Dozens upon dozens of patented and unpatented mines line the hills and valleys of the Bradshaw Mountains near Mt. Union and Yankee Doodle Peak, with many having found hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gold, silver, and copper chasing the same lode! And they didn't stop because they ran out of ore...
    • Close to Town - Within 15 miles of Prescott and Ponderosa Park, these claims aren't far from a home, a shower, or a warm meal. Fire services can be found as close as Potato Patch.
    • Good Accessibility - Around the homesteads of the Potato Patch, just a few miles from Prescott, Arizona, well-maintained dirt roads for the local residents can help take you to your claims without issue.
