Golden Buckeye 40 Acre Placer Mining Claim

Decent dirt road takes you within a couple hundred feet walk down to the claim.

Over 6000 ounces of gold have been produced in this district from placer alone, that's within the top 10 of all mining districts in Nevada.

Creek runs seasonally with water, during late fall, winter and dries up early spring.  Good for year round dry washing.

The photos below are from the claim, and surrounding area.  Includes over 1000 feet of creek side frontage.

Source of Gold Deposit:

According the Nevada Division of minerals and BLM write up on Golden Buckeye, the source of gold is from auriferous pyrite present in pyritized hydrothermally altered intrusive rocks in the Mt. Siegal  mining district.

Since 1930, a book on placer claims in Nevada reports that over 6000 ounces of gold have recovered from Buckeye creek on both sides of the mountain range.  Ravine has cut into this gold carrying ore body, placing gold deposits in pockets alone the ravine.

Finding Gold on Golden Buckeye Claim

Buckeye Creek is seasonal, with water flowing in late winter, early spring with the snow melt off. To start mining this claim there 4 methods could be used to start running tonnage, if you want to scale-up beyond hands and pans:

 – Dry-washer
 – Metal detector for pickers along the ravine
 – Water recirculating sluice system
 – Haul ore to an off-site mill

In my opinion, a dry washer would work wonders for this claim for a number of reasons.  Hauling water is always a pain, and with a gas-powered dry washer you can simply run material without the need of water-heavy sluice units.
