DOGSKIN 120 Acre Placer Mining Claim

Dogskin 1 -6 are is a newly listed placer mining claim in Washoe County, just north of Gerlach Nevada in Red Mountain Canyon.  It totals 60 conjoining acres of unpatented mining placer mining claims.  Red Mountain Creek is spring fed and flows year round giving you access to water for processing with either a trommel or sluice.   The claim has over 3500 feet of creek side, and a good dirt road runs along the entire length of the claim.

Everyone's always requesting that we find a placer claim in Nevada with water on it that they can mine year round -- Dogskin 1-6 has answered the call!  This claim has all the bells and whistles - ease of access, water, past gold production, even flat places to camp and setup a mill.

A good dirt road takes you directly to the creek, and with a little 4x4 you can pass right through it.  Isolated in a wide canyon, there is plenty of sunlight, and even a few trees if you need to escape to shade!  You'll find this claim about 35 minutes north of Gerlach, just west of the same playa they hold 'Burning Man' at!

While Gerlach might be out of the way for most of us, the town does have all the amenities you need including food, motels, hardware, mechanics and fuel!  The Dogskin placer claims are well worth the drive.  The atmosphere is serene and the creek is a past gold producer!  So plan to come out for a few days and enjoy panning/sluicing in the creek.  Camp on your claim, or stay at a motel in Gerlach!

    Upscaling Potential

The Dogskin placers claims is a great block of claims with upscaling potential.  Recreationally there is great campsites for an entire family and plenty of flat, level spaces for RV parking or setting up a mill-site to process the gold bearing gravels covering the vast majoring of this 120 acre claim.

Begin immediately by gold panning, nugget shooting, sluicing and even dredging (with a permit).  A long time friend of mine has taken multiple hard-rock samples at a depth of 3 feet along the canyon walls and found gold flakes in most of samples.  He said one pan had over 15 flakes from just a 2 pound pulverized rock... which makes an opportunity to find high grade ore in the hillsides as well as gold deposits in the creek.

    • Perfect for gold panning on the creek!  Wade in about 6 inches to a foot and a half of water and dig deep for those black sands!
    • High banking.  The different strata levels are clearly shown in some high banks throughout the claim!
    • Sluicing & Trommel -  The water flow is strong enough to push a sluice, or you can even enhance it with a pump!  It's year round water flow so gold cubes, and sluices are a go!
    • Dredging potential - with a permit you can bring your dredge and get to the bottom of the creek, under large boulders, bends and low pressure zones in the water.
    • Metal Detecting for Pickers - You never know, sticking a Goldbug 2 into those crevices and low pressure zones might find gold!

Take your boots off, and get in the creek!  A couple shovels full of dirt through a classifier and you can start pannin' it down.  So many colorful rock types of varying composition can't help me think there might be some garnets in there somewhere...
