FIND POWERFUL SEDONA GEMS in the FOOTHILLS of the COCONINO NATIONAL FOREST!
Find the hidden treasures of the Earth and maybe find inner peace on the Sedona Legend #17, a 20-acre unpatented placer mining claim in Sedona, Arizona! Wedged between the town of Sedona and the beautiful Sedona Mago Center, a wellness retreat center, this unpatented mining claim shares the powerful magnetic energies contained in and around the mythical Sedona plateaus!
Outside the traditional mining districts of Verde and Jerome, the Sedona Legend claims hunt for gems and other stunning minerals in the backyard of Sedona itself! Taking from the nearby foothills of Bear Mountain and the local, dry Spring Creek, this little spot in the wilds delivers fresh quartz, chalcopyrite-stained rock, and almost alien-looking hemetite-stained botryodial chalcedony; the "rough ore" of Sedona's famous fire agates!
One of the botryodial chalcedony specimens located on-site!
The Grounds
The grounds of the Sedona Legend #17 are wild and untamed - at least, as much as can be just a few miles outside of Sedona! These untouched grounds give an incredible view of the surrounding landscape, making the Sedona Legend #17 claim perfect for rock-hounds who want to enjoy the stunning beauty of Arizona! Far enough away from any light pollution produced by the town and the nearby resort, the area is perfect for star-gazing -- and even has convenient, cleared camping spots a few hundred meters from the claim itself!
Just outside the claim boundaries to the West is the now dry Spring Creek. Carrying the iron-rich ores from Buck Ridge the down into the valley, the possibility of finding some gold flakes or raw silver isn't out of the question, but it would be one lucky day if you did! Occasionally carrying some fancy looking minerals down the old bed too, it could be a good spot to pick up a little gold and a little gem too.
Upstream from the claim also lies scenic and famous spots, like the Honanki Heritage Site and the Palatki Heritage Site! Both sites showcase ancient hieroglyphics painted and carved into the walls by the ancient, cave-dwelling people, believed to be from 1100 AD! While many years have passed since then, there's always a rare chance you might stumble upon a unique piece of history - a relic of the past from these very same peoples!
Rocks bearing chalcopyrite staining.
If you're not there for the history, the views are incredible from the Red Canyon Overlook, just a few hundred feet above the claim. Further back into the mountains, if hiking and exploring is more your speed, the Loy Canyon trailhead just to the North of the claim could be your starting place to find the long Lost Padre Mine. This legendary mine founded by early Spaniard settlers was said to be rich beyond measure, but tragedy and time caused everyone who knew to forget where in the mountains it was... While most believe it to be in the well-scoured Superstition or Organ Mountains, not many have ventured into the Bear Mountains to find this hidden legend... and until they do, the endless riches of the Lost Padre may remain hidden forever!
Combined, all these things make for an excellent spot for outdoorsmen or photographers who love to hike and plod around looking for unique rocks and gems while enjoying a wonderful view. If you're willing to go a little farther from the claim, both the Jerome and Verde Mining Districts are well within reach to catch up on your mining history. And when the lights go down low, the clean air and dark skies make the perfect canvas for the beauty of our beloved Milky Way galaxy...

The Features of the "Sedona Legend #17" at a Glance:
