Historic Plomosa Gold Country — Bear Hills, La Paz County, Arizona

On the flank of the Plomosa Mountains between Quartzsite and Bouse, the Arizona Bedrock Gold 008 & 009, two 20-acre unpatented placer claims, sit inside one of Arizona's oldest gold districts — the same territory prospectors have worked since the 1860s, a short walk east of the old Stafford gold-copper workings!

Claimed just due East of two historical gold- and copper-producing mines, the Arizona Bedrock Gold sit in a good spot for two reasons: they share the same gold-veined andesitic volcanic rock that the Stafford and Shamrock mines were using to obtain their haul, but also sit in a natural erosion zone. With mines in the area reporting heavily oxidized, mineralized material, it suggests that the golden host rock has been slowly worn away by the occasional monsoon, creating pockets of recently weathered gravels that likely contain the very same gold the Stafford miners dug deep for! Almost a century of time has passed since the old timers first staked and panned this land - and that means a century of freshly shuffled gravels await any man willing to pan these red sands!

The Plomosa district has given up an estimated 25,000 ounces of gold, 129,000 ounces of silver, plus copper, lead, barite, and manganese across its lifetime, and it sits within the same west-Arizona detachment-fault gold belt that hosts the half-million-ounce Copperstone mine just up the road. The district has proven itself to men for 160 years, and there's still more hiding in those mountains!

With easy drive-up access off the paved Plomosa Road, the Arizona Bedrock Gold claims are easy to access and mere minutes from Interstate 10 and the Quartzsite gem shows. Winters here are made for working — mild, dry, and sunny from November through spring while the rest of the gold country is under snow.
