Historical Record

The Bunker Hill was a 40-acre lode mining claim located near Goldpoint, Nevada, in Esmeralda County. This was a significant historic mine with extensive underground workings and documented high-grade ore.

Key historical details:

  • 40 acres of unpatented lode ground
  • 1,500+ feet of tunnel — well ventilated with 6'2" backings
  • 10-foot audit with visible vein on working face
  • Three mine portals: one shaft and two drifts
  • Estimated 1,000+ ton tailings pile
  • Substantial known vein material remaining
  • Mining relics present: can dumps, timbers, iron scrap, ore cart railing
  • Campsite 50 yards from the primary mine portal

Geology & Vein System

The Bunker Hill mine featured a granitic intrusion with vein systems consisting of rich mineralized quartz veins. The primary mine vein system ran at a 90° strike along the drift ribs. Vein size ranged from 6" × 6" to 4' × 4' along the heading and ribs of the primary drift.

The deposit type was characterized by:

  • Granitic intrusion host rock
  • Vein systems of rich mineralized quartz
  • Primary vein at 90° strike along drift ribs
  • Low iron content enabling easy free-milling
  • Direct smelting viability for high-grade ore

Fire Assay Results (Historical)

Samples were taken along the vein system of the primary mine as well as from the tailings near the shaft. Fire assays and XRF analysis were conducted by an accredited professional assayer and metallurgist with over 15 years of mining experience.

XRF analysis confirmed low iron content throughout the vein, making for easy free-milling and direct smelting. Silver was present universally throughout the vein, with exceptionally high gold content on an audit approximately 1,000 feet from the portal.

Pilot Milling Results

One hundred pounds of ore was taken from the vein systems for pilot milling operations. All ore was pulverized down to 30 mesh minus and tested:

  • Shaker Table Concentration: Coarse gold from mineralized quartz veins was easily gravity concentrated. Smelted concentrates yielded a 12k gold/silver doré button.
  • Direct Smelt of Clay Contacts: Low iron content allowed easy direct smelting, yielding the highest possible gold/silver recovery.
