Historical Record

The Lower Buckeye was a 20-acre unpatented placer claim on Buckeye Creek in Douglas County, Nevada. Part of the historic Mt. Siegel placer district, this claim offered proven gold-bearing creek gravels with excellent access.

This is 20 acres on Buckeye Creek I visited on 12/10/20.

The claim area measures 1500' x 600' and the photographs are from the claim area.

Samples were taken from two high-banks in low pressure zones along the creek.  A 1/4 bucket panned down to iron sulfides, hematite, magnetite, lead slug and possibily small gold.  Roasting the cons and pouring nitric-acid on them would reveal any precious metals present in the high banks.
