On the flank of the Plomosa Mountains between Quartzsite and Bouse, Arizona Bedrock Gold 008 & 009 sit inside one of Arizona's oldest gold districts — territory that prospectors have worked since the 1860s, just east of the historic Stafford gold-copper workings.

These two adjacent 20-acre unpatented placer claims are well positioned for two reasons. They share the same gold-veined andesitic volcanic rock that fed the Stafford and Shamrock mines, and they sit in a natural erosion zone where monsoon runoff has been washing weathered gravels downslope for centuries. The oxidized, mineralized material reported throughout this area suggests the host rock has been slowly shedding gold into pockets of recently worked gravels.

The Plomosa district has yielded an estimated 25,000 ounces of gold and 129,000 ounces of silver, plus copper, lead, barite, and manganese. It lies within the same west-Arizona detachment-fault gold belt that hosts the half-million-ounce Copperstone mine. The district has been productive for over 160 years — and there is still ground worth working.

Access is straightforward: paved Plomosa Road puts you within a quarter-mile of the claims, with Interstate 10 and the Quartzsite gem shows just minutes away. Phoenix is roughly 90 minutes by car. Winters are ideal for prospecting — mild, dry, and sunny from November through spring while higher elevations are under snow.
