USGS describes the Round Mountain placer gold as notably "coarse and angular," with about 145,000 ounces recovered during large-scale dredging in 1950–1952 and 1958–1959. The Manhattan district (Toquima Range) yielded roughly 206,000 ounces of placer gold plus 280,000 ounces of lode gold, with several of the largest gold nuggets ever found in Nevada coming out of that district.
